## How it works

1. **Move the site to Premium**: A custom domain is part of Premium. Choose it in the Plan card in Settings for the site you want on your domain.
2. **Add the domain**: In Settings, under Custom domain, type your domain and click Add domain. The records you need appear right away.
3. **Copy the records**: Add the records at the provider where your domain lives. When they are found, the status turns Connected and the site opens on your domain.

## Frequently asked questions

### How do I connect my own domain to my website?

Move the site to Premium, open Settings and add the domain under Custom domain. Copy the records we show into the DNS of your provider, and we verify them and issue the certificate, usually within minutes of the records going live.

### My domain is on Cloudflare. What should I do?

Add the records as usual but leave them as DNS only, the grey cloud, with the proxy turned off. With the proxy on, the domain cannot be verified and will not get its certificate.

### Will connecting my domain break my email?

No. You only add records for the root domain and www, so the MX records that deliver your email stay as they are. For the root, use an ALIAS, ANAME or flattened CNAME record if your provider offers one.
