Syntax highlighting, a searchable file tree, up to 12 files open in tabs, the line and column you are on, and Save all for every unsaved file.

Create and organize files

Add a New file or a New folder, rename or delete files, and keep styles in the styles folder, scripts in the scripts folder and SVG files in assets.

Safe next to the AI

Editing pauses while the AI works, and if a file was changed somewhere else, you choose whether to keep your version or take the new one.

How it works

    Step 1

    Open Code

    In the editor's left menu choose Code. The file tree lists every page, stylesheet and script of your site.

    Step 2

    Edit a file

    Click a file to open it in a tab and make your changes. Files the site cannot serve open in read only mode.

    Save and check

    Press Save or Save all, check the result in the preview on the Page tab, and press Publish when it looks right.

Frequently asked questions

Which file types can I create in the code editor?

HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, XML, TXT, SVG and webmanifest files. Styles go in the styles folder, scripts in the scripts folder and SVG files in assets, while photos and other media are managed in Files.

Can I break my website by editing the code?

Mistakes can happen, but required files like the home page and the 404 page cannot be deleted, and a restore point is saved before files are deleted or renamed. With Premium you restore an earlier version from Backups.

Can I download the code of my website?

Yes, with Premium. Settings lets you download every file of the site as a ZIP archive. On any plan you can open, read, copy and edit the code here in the Code view.
